Jason Voorhees Must Be Removed from Lake, Say AZ Officials

Thanks to some devious divers, a lifelike statue of Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise can be found at the bottom of a popular scuba-diving lake in Arizona. But thanks to the statue's popularity on social media, Arizona park officials quickly became aware of it and are planning on having Jason removed from the lake.

David Jordan, who supervises Lake Pleasant in Maricopa County, AZ, said, "There's always a little bit of humor behind it but at the same time, we're very much concerned about... trying to maintain clean facilities for people to enjoy."

According to the news article on syfy.com, the same lake is host to a variety of other objects placed by divers including fake skeletons, Christmas trees and a Volkswagen. The county has deemed these items to be litter and are all subject to removal.

Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you see it, the Jason statue at the bottom of the lake is not the first of its kind. There's another one at the bottom of a 100-foot lake in Minnesota.
