The channel which boasted "if it's almost a sport, we've got it here" in the climax of the 2004 hit movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is returning on August 8th. ESPN2 will become ESPN 8 The "Ocho" for one day and will broadcast dodgeball, chess boxing, other "sports" and of course, the movie Dodgeball, which will air twice.
The day of programming will also feature ping pong, cornhole, spikeball, darts and eating competitions. If anything, it won't hurt ESPN's ratings, which have been in a steady decline for years now.
ESPN pulled off a similar switch to ESPN 8 last year, so it must have worked out for them.
