The Smashing Pumpkins, fronted by Billy Corgan and now joined by original members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, have released their first new song recorded together since 2000. Corgan recently told Lars Ulrich in an interview that the song "Solara" is part of a four-song EP due out before the band's stadium tour kicks off in July. The band plans to release a second four-song EP following the tour as well.
The new music was recorded at Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California with Rick Rubin. The Pumpkins also will appear on Jimmy Fallon on June 11th and The Howard Stern Show on June 12th to promote the new single and upcoming tour.
