Washington, DC 20024
Breathe Deep DC was created in 2009 by the late Jerry Sorkin, a Bethesda resident husband, father of two, and nine-year lung cancer survivor. Jerry dedicated his life to working on behalf of people diagnosed with lung cancer, serving as the Vice Chairman of LUNGevity’s Board of Directors, an advocate, and most importantly, a friend to everyone he met.
This year’s walk will take place on the National Mall right next to the Smithsonian metro stop at 12th and Jefferson. Event day check-in starts at 9:00am and the walk will begin at 10:30am – rain or shine. The walk route takes participants around the historic National Mall on a course that is stroller, wheelchair, pet, and bicycle friendly. 100% of the proceeds go to LUNGevity Foundation to fund lifesaving lung cancer research for early detection and better treatments.
The walk will include music, free refreshments, kids’ activities, a social media scavenger hunt, and team awards. The Washington Nationals Presidents will even be getting in on the fun, taking photos with participants and more!
Registration: Registration fees are $25 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for youth. There is no race fee for lung cancer survivors and children five and under. Register here!
