Smashing Pumpkins Tease Classic Lineup Reunion

For months now, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin have been hinting that a classic lineup reunion could be in the works. If the band's social media presence means anything, the announcement of this happening could be coming soon.

The band's official website, SmashingPumpkins.com returned just a few days ago, with simply the classic version of the band's logo from the Siamese Dream era. And their Instagram page is displaying merchandise from the band's 90s incarnation.

In 2016, James Iha joined the band for a few songs at a handful of shows during the band's tour. It was the first time he shared a stage with Billy Corgan in 16 years. The classic lineup of the band with D'arcy Wretsky, hasn't been together since 1999.

The band broke up in 2000 and returned in 2006 with Corgan and Chamberlin as the only members. Since then, Corgan has remained the only constant. Chamberlin quit the Pumpkins in 2009 and returned to touring with the band in 2015.
