Kevin Westenberg, a famous photographer who has shot the likes of B.B. King, Robert Plant, David Gilmour and pretty much every big name in rock during the 90s, shared to his Instagram the photo that would become Soundgarden's monumental 1994 album Superunknown.
The album cover, known by fans as the "screaming elf" is a distorted photo of the band. On the left is bass player Ben Shepherd, the center is a laughing Chris Cornell and to the right is guitarist Kim Thayil. Drummer Matt Cameron was in the original photo to the right of Thayil but was cropped out of the final cover.
Here is the original photo along with Westenberg's story behind the session that resulted in the album cover.
