Man Who Help Catch the Subway Shooter Describes How He Spotted Him

A crowd gathered in New York City to cheer the man who was responsible for the Subway shooter being put into custody.

21-year-old Zack Tahhan described to the media and the crowd how he spotted the suspect of the shooting.

Tahhan, a security camera technician, says he lost sleep over the tragic news on Monday, when 10 people were shot with dozens others injured during the morning commute in Brooklyn.

Tahhan says he was working when he recognized the suspect.

"I see the police walking from over there. I told the police, 'This is the guy … Catch him, catch him.' Thank God, we catch him.' Thank you very much."

Police arrested Frank James in connection with the shooting in the East Village area of Manhattan on Wednesday around 2 p.m.

Earlier in the day, a person claiming to be James called Crime Stoppers, telling them he would be near a McDonald's in the East Village.

According to Insider, a different person also called the Crime Stoppers hotline to report that the suspect was seen at a McDonald's in East Village. It is unknown if this caller was Tahhan. All tipsters who call the hotline remain confidential.

NYPD officers responded to the location of the McDonald's, but didn't see the suspect. They started to drive around in hopes of locating James, and spotted him on the corner of St. Marks and First and took him into custody after Tahhan presumably waved them down.

James was arrested without incident. He has been charged with a federal terrorism offense.
