Facebook is reportedly going to change their name, and the switch could happen as early as next week.
Although the website and app will remain unchanged, the company itself will reportedly change their name similarly to how Google changed their business name to Alphabet in 2015 as part of a company restructuring.
Mark Zuckerberg plans to talk about the change at the company's annual conference next Thursday (Oct 28), but the new name could debut ahead of that.
The move is seen as being a way to expand the notion that Facebook is solely a social media company even though they have branched out in other technology sectors in recent years.
Some critics are saying the move is also to cause a distraction while Facebook deals with the aftermath of a whistleblower who exposed some of the devious inner-workings of the social media giant just weeks ago.
