Beginning in October, you will have to prove that you locked your scooter to a bike rack before you can end the ride. Just like the city bikes, you will have to secure the e-scooters to something at least 3 feet from a pedestrian path. The goal is to end sidewalk obstruction.
That's great and all (it's not), but there's definitely not enough bike racks in D.C. to make this happen. The District says that to combat the issue they are committed to installing 1,000 new bike racks a year in D.C. through 2025.
My issue is SAFETY. I love that when it's darker I can ride door to door, so unfortunately for many people like me, we're going to need to budget more money for Ubers and Lyfts
