A 42-year-old armed robbery suspect charged with armed robbery who managed to escape the Palmetto Police Department earlier this month has been found and captured again.
According to police, Ronald Giroux was initially placed under arrest after he was being questioned in regards to an armed robbery when he tried to run away. He was caught and charged with obstruction on November 2nd and was brought into the Palmetto Police Department for further questioning. There, Giroux provided police with a fake name which held up the questioning process and a transfer to a jail. During the delay, Giroux managed to contort his body to get his handcuffed hands in front of him and managed to leave the building unnoticed.
An intensive search was launched, but Giroux was nowhere to be found.
Five days later, in a separate investigation, a police officer was checking in on a homeless cap when he spotted Giroux. Giroux tried to run away but was caught. When the officer went to place handcuffs on him, Giroux was reportedly still wearing the original ones he was wearing five days earlier, albeit with the connecting chain broken to give him freedom of movement.
Upon this arrest, Giroux's real identity was revealed. He is facing charges of escape, resisting arrest, giving false name to law enforcement and contempt of court.
