Nate Burrell, star of A&E's docuseries 60 Days In, has died at the age of 33, according to TMZ.
The former Marine died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound performed in public in Michigan.
Hours before the tragic incident, Burrell posted a lengthy message to Facebook detailing his troubles.
He had been expecting a child with his wife, who he had recently split from.
Burrell, a former Marine, pleads for mental health reforms for military members and their families in his message. He served from 2006 to 2010 as an infantryman and did two tours of Iraq.
He was a popular member of the A&E show in seasons three and four, which is meant to detail life in the American correctional system and to reveal injustices done to inmates serving time behind bars.
Burrell had most recently held a job as a Fish and Wildlife Officer in Michigan.
