According to a press release from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, a suspect who is believed to be the man who was filmed in an assault of three young adults on the Capital Crescent Trail that took place on June 1 has been arrested.
A video captured the events and was uploaded to social media where it gained national attention. The video shows three young people posting fliers along the trail in support of George Floyd. The suspect appears to confront two young women and rips the fliers out of their hands. The victim who was recording the video claims the man also attempted to use his bicycle to pin him to the ground.
The Park Police posted photos from the video to Twitter and asked for the public's help in identifying the suspect on June 2.
The Park Police say they identified 60-year-old Anthony Brennan III of Kensington, MD as the man in the video and place him into custody on June 5 with three counts of second-degree assault.
The press release mentions that they received hundreds of tips regarding the incident which helped identify the suspect. A search of Brennan's house was conducted and "items of evidentiary value were seized." Brennan voluntarily turned himself over to detectives.
