There are many breweries that have popped up in Baltimore over the past 15 years with the craft beer boom. And the newest brewery in the city is perhaps one of the most unique in not just the city, but the country.
The Ministry of Brewing, which opened its doors earlier this month, is located in the former St. Michael's Church at 1900 East Lombard Street in Upper Fells Point not far from Patterson Park.
The Ministry offers not only beer, but a hard cider and even craft soda for those who do not drink alcohol but want to check out the cool space.
Where the rows and rows of pews were formerly is now the taproom area with tables and chairs. Where the alter was is now where the huge fermentation tanks reside.
Not only do the people at Ministry of Brewing aim to serve top notch fermented drinks to Baltimore, they plan to give back to the community much like a church would. The founders are planning on offering a summer class to high school seniors "to help prepare them for future jobs in research or industry where molecular biology skills are needed and valued."
Cheers to the Ministry.of Brewing.
