A Kansas man has asked a judge for a trial by combat to settle a long time dispute he has had with his ex-wife and her lawyer.
40-year-old David Ostrom says in a court filing that his ex-wife Bridgette and her attorney Matthew Hudson "destroyed (him) legally."
Ostrom says the judge has the right to allow him to "resolve our disputes on the field of battle, legally" and says that trial by combat "has never been explicitly banned or restricted as a right in these United States."
Apparently David and Bridgette have been involved in a visitation and custody dispute and property tax payments.
Hudson responded to the filing, saying that the duel could result in death, outweighing the ramifications of the legal issues.
