The main premise of IT and the upcoming IT: Chapter Two revolves around an evil being who disguises himself as a clown and kills children. So what better way to celebrate the release of the new movie by inviting only people dressed as clowns to a screening?
Alamo Drafthouse is doing just that. They actually did it for the release of the first movie back in 2017, but now a bunch more locations are doing it for the sequel. The locations in Ashburn and Woodbridge, VA will both host a "clowns-only" screening on Thursday, September 6th. Special tickets will be required for the screenings.
The event description on Alamo Drafthouse's website reads:
We're celebrating the second chapter of Stephen King's magnum opus with a nightmare-fuelling Clown-only screening of IT CHAPTER TWO. Please come dressed as a clown – the wig, the makeup, the oversized pants and suspenders, the blood-curdling makeup – and sit through this coulrophobia-inducing fright fest with a theater full of fellow... clowns. Good luck. [Insert maniacal clown laugh here.] You’re gonna need it, floaters.
IT: Chapter Two hits theaters on September 5th.
