A Florida man was arrested for an unusual reason, and the man had an unusual reason for committing the crime.
Police say they stopped 35-year-old Christopher Monnin on Thursday around 1:30am for acting suspiciously. They say Christopher had a white garbage bag full of what he told police were deflated pool floats.
Upon further questioning by police, they say Monnin admitted to stealing other pool floats from several residences. He took them to a vacant house where around 75 pool floats had been collected.
When asked why he was stashing so man pool floats, Monnin allegedly told police that he "sexually gratifies himself" with them as a deterrent to raping women.
Monnin was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief and petty theft.
