A viral video has helped metal band Unlocking the Truth land a $1.8 million record deal with Sony.

A video of Unlocking the Truth got a ton of attention about one year ago.  The video featured the then 12-year-olds, Malcolm Brickhouse and Jarad Dawkins and their new bandmate, Alec Atkins.

The deal is for five albums.  According to the New York Post, the band's manager was contacted by a Sony executive after seeing the video.  Their manager, Alan Sacks, believes the trio could become the "new face of rock."

It should be noted that while the deal includes 16 to 17 percent in royalties (which is good), the band will only see the big money if their first album sells over 250,000 copies.  That's not easy.

The Brooklyn kids have been targeted by bullies in school.  Apparently, their classmates aren't huge metal fans.

Their classmates didn't play Coachella.
