Kansas has announced a replacement for their departing lead singer Steve Walsh.  Starting in September, Ronnie Platt will handle vocals and keyboards for the band.

On July 2, Kansas announced that Steve Walsh was resigning from the band and his last show would on August 16.

Walsh joined Kansas in 1973 and first left the band in 1981.  Kansas broke up a few years later and when they reunited in 1985, Walsh was back.  He's been the band's lead singer ever since.

Ronnie Platt is a native of Chicago and is excited for the opportunity.  He writes, "I'm a long time fan of the music and have always looked up to Steve Walsh.  My goal is not to replace Steve, no one can do that.  It is my goal and responsibility to sustain the integrity that is Kansas."
