Black Lager is hands down one of my favorite styles of beer.
Also, I enjoy T&A.
Needless to say, I have high expectations for this beer.
Look-Not as dark as I'd expect from a black lager. More of a deep brown. No head to speak of.
Smell-the roasted malt on the nostrils that could be a porter but is also the hallmark of a black lager.
Taste-Toasty on the lips.
Mouth-Medium bodied. Rich malty flavor with a smooth aftertaste.
Overall-Is it the best black lager I've ever had? No. It IS a solid black lager though, and with The Chive's backing, is sure to be here for the long haul.
A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.
