To get you ready for next week's DC Beer Week, THIS week, we'll feature breweries that are taking part in some of the festivities around town. This beer from Ommegang will be widely available in our area this fall.
See below for more info on DC Beer Week.
Look-resembles a brillant sunset with cloudiness.
Smell-Wheat in my nose
Taste-Again, the wheat is the star for me.
Mouth-light to medium bodied. Sweet and smooth in the mouth with a touch of dryness in the finish.
Overall-If you are a fan of Ommegang, you will enjoy this ale immensely. They've mastered the Belgian style of brewing beer and this is no exception. This would also be a great introduction to the Belgian wheat style beer because it's a bit more tempered than some of the more full bodied Belgians.
About Scythe & Sickle:
Scythe and Sickle is a testament to the craft and care of farming in honor of the harvest season. Using barley, oats, wheat, and rye, they’ve brought the mood of fall to life with vibrant and flavorful passion. At 5.8% ABV and brewed with balance in mind, Scythe & Sickle reveals a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with light toastiness and gentle sweetness. Bright amber in color from the mixed malts, the beer is balanced with delicate hopping to counter rather than overpower the malt profile. It will be available this fall in the DC area.
