The Black Keys sponsored a little league baseball team in their hometown of Akron, Ohio. Drummer Patrick Carney tells TMZ that he played in the the league as a child and when one of his childhood friends asked about the idea of sponsoring the team, he took the opportunity.
The band is joined by many of the typical little league baseball sponsors. There are local doctors, lawyers, tire stores, rec centers, judges, and sporting goods stores. The TV Land show Hot in Cleveland also sponsors a team.
Carney is not happy about the press the band has received on the story :(.
We got a lot of press about the baseball Jerseys but not a lick about all the steroids we bought those kids. Smh :(— Patrick Carney (@patrickcarney) July 10, 2013
